Reset the service interval lights

Use all the parts mentioned below to make up the Reset Tool. Attach the alligator clip to the engine ground and insert the
mail pin into the diagnostic connector pin seven (7). Embedding a 470-ohm resistor in series within alligator
clip will limit the current to about 25 ma in case you connect to
the wrong pin and would not cause any shorts and mess up something.
The following are the parts were used to make one BMW RESET TOOL for the BMW’s which have the 15 & 20 pin data link connector. Parts numbers are for the 15 & 20 pin diagnostic connector. Use any of the following at your own risk. As always, feel free to do it your way.

12 to 24 Inches of # 14 MTW Wire or any multi stranded wire
Construct the jumper tool as shown in the above photo using the BMW pin for the 15 or 20 pin connector. I hot glued the ridge of the pin to the alligator clip. I also placed a drop of hot glue at the other end of the banana plug.
When constructing the tool cut part of the resistor lead and push it into the wire then solder it. Place the white heat shrink over the resistor & wire to cover it. You can use a cigerett liter to shrink the heat shrink tubing, be sure not to burn it go back and forth with the heat rotating the heat shrink. Then put the other end of the resistor lead on the alagator clip and tighten it down. Put the pin on the other end of the wire and crimp it down, solder this part also to make sure it does not fall off. Put the Heat shrink on the pin not covering the end and put some heat to the heat shrink. You are done!
